Tarkwa-based radio presenter at Pure FM, Kuami Sarkodie has questioned organizers of Western Radio and TV Personality Awards (WRTP Awards) on why he was consulted before being nominated in the 2021 edition of the award scheme.

According to Kuami Sarkodie, he plays a lot of roles in the industry so if the organizers want to nominate him, they should have consulted him to know which categories to place him. In our interaction with him, we found out that, he writes and reads the news, serves as a pundit on the breakfast show and entertainment review show, produces some of the radio programmes and he is a DJ as well.
Kuami Sarkodie believes WRTP Awards organizers weren’t fair to him by nominating him in the Best Radio Producer category. They should have made a wider consultation by contacting him to know his roles in the industry so they place him in the right categories instead of just one category which isn’t his main role.
He alleged that some industry players are behind this. This is what he wrote on his Facebook wall but later deleted it:
You see, I don’t blame WRTP much but our own industry players. Some people think we don’t know their Crim-con minds but we see them pass. Moreover, whom did they contacted in the first place only to nominate me on production? I want to use this platform to put a message across the world and especially to WRTP that, most of we the industry players are hypocrites so they themselves should probe/scrutinize grounds of the effort of some people before nomination is done.
Some industry players sake of “one man thousand and a ball of kenkey + alcohol will try to undermine the works of some tireless efforts only to be doing something else. I saw the nomination last year and didn’t bother and most people who won was a “two-sure thing”. Truth must be told, some mouth-pins of some media houses are into “plan plan life”, WRTP shine your eyes please.
I stand to be corrected, I don’t think am after your brand but trying to put things happening on grounds in the lime light. By force twi speakers on radio are winning awards on news and other programs. Lord mercy
Western Radio and Television Personality (WRTP) Awards is an award scheme organized by Ex-One Entertainment to reward and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and contributions of media personalities in the Western Region towards the media growth in the year under review.
Voting has started and winners for this year’s edition will walk away with the plaque and other prices like Laptops, Fridges and Air Conditioners while the contestant with the highest votes walks away with a Saloon car.
